From 1990, Mission Kenya supported children’s education, clean water access, and community development in Mtwapa, Kenya. Founded by Anne and Ian Gyde, the charity brought together UK volunteers and Kenyan partners to work hand-in-hand-offering practical support, friendship, and lasting change at the heart of the village.<\/p>\n

“At the start, we called it ‘my Africa thing’ but in truth it
was always God’s ‘Africa thing’. This is His story. I’ll do

\ntheir dream holiday in Kenya, back in 1990.\n

Little did they know, their world was about to turn upside down…..<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"Into\n\t\tInto Mtwapa village with Patrick\n\t‘Never again would we take for granted the gift of clean water, or
\nsoft white sheets, or electricity.’\n\t\t\t\t\"Children\n\t\tChildren run to greet visitors\n\t\t\t\t\"Village\n\t\tVillage water supply\n\t\t\t\t\"Mtomondoni\n\t\tMtomondoni Primary School\n\tUnable to ignore what they’d seen, Anne and Ian took a first, rather
\nshaky step of faith – and their Christian charity, Mission Kenya, came
\ninto being.\nFrom its base in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, a group of enthusiastic
\nvolunteers joined hands with a dynamic team in Kenya, determined to

to start our Mission Kenya charity. Please tell the children<\/em><\/p>\n

they can go to school.’<\/em><\/p>\n\tAnnual garden parties went from strength
\nto strength (take a look on our ‘Video Memories’ page<\/a>) enabling Mission Kenya
\nto help more and more children through education.\n\t\t\t\t\"Primary\n\t\tPrimary School\n\t\t\t\t\"Secondary\n\t\tSecondary School\n\t\t\t\t\"Further\n\t\tFurther Education\n\tBesides education, other needs in Mtwapa led to additional projects,
\nand these were funded in a variety of ways.\n

 <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"Kikambala\n\t\tKikambala Lunch Programme\n\t\t\t\t\"Water\n\t\tWater for Mtwapa\n\t\t\t\t\"New\n\t\tNew School – Gates of Joy\n\t‘We believed that fundraising should be fun for everyone, helpers as<\/strong>
\nwell as guests, and Mission Kenya events were terrific, if slightly off-<\/strong>
\nthe-wall!’.<\/strong>\n\tFrom fundraising in England to exciting results in
\nAfrica, being a part of Mission Kenya would turn out to be the
\nexperience, and privilege, of a lifetime. ….\n
